Luke & Wendy | A Glacier National Park Elopement Along Going-to-the-Sun Road
Some weddings are less about a timeline and more about the adventure! Luke and Wendy's Glacier National Park elopement was exactly that.
Their day began surrounded by friends and family at a local Air Bnb in Kalispell Montana. It was the perfect place to get ready and build excitement for the day. We love being a part of the getting ready process to capture these in the moment shots.
We then drove to the beautiful Apgar Amphitheater, tucked among the towering trees near Lake McDonald. With their closest loved ones gathered around, they tied the knot in one of the most calm serene ceremony locations in Glacier National Park. The quiet forest setting created an intimate atmosphere that perfectly reflected who they are as a couple. It is the perfect location if you have a bigger group that is attending your ceremony.
After the ceremony, we set off on one of the most scenic drives in the country, Going-to-the-Sun Road, to capture the rest of their wedding film.
One of our first stops was 7 mile pull out or “sandy beach.” It was the perfect stop on our way up to get some incredible beach shots with plenty of space. The next stop was the Avalanche Creek Campground, where we walked down to the crystal-clear river. The rushing water, smooth river rocks, and towering mountains created an incredible backdrop for cinematic moments. You feel like you’re in a bowl surround by mountains, trees and water. These quiet moments together by the water became some of our favorite footage from the day. This is where they chose to exchange their private vows which we absolutely love!
As we continued climbing through Glacier National Park, every turn revealed another breathtaking mountain view. Crossing over Logan Pass, we made our way to the East Tunnel waterfall, where cascading water and dramatic cliffs gave Wendy and Luke an unforgettable setting for more moments to capture. I also have to mention all the wildlife we saw this day! From a giant grizzly just hiking a path up near Logans pass to mountain goats licking the salt off the parking lot ground then finally to a sweet black bear just cruising along the road minding his own business.
Before ending the day, we made one final stop at Big Bend. They shared their first dance privately in the mountains. It was quite a special moment.
They were up for any adventure so we asked if they would be willing to walk to the weeping wall. Instead of simply standing beside the waterfall, Wendy and Luke embraced the adventure and stepped right into the flowing water. They laughed, splashed each other, and soaked in every second of the experience. Those authentic moments of joy perfectly captured what an adventurous Glacier National Park elopement is all about.
One of our favorite things about filming Glacier elopements is that no two days are ever the same. Every couple experiences the park differently, and Wendy and Luke chose to celebrate by exploring some of Glacier's most iconic locations together. From the peaceful ceremony at Apgar Amphitheater to the waterfalls along Going-to-the-Sun Road, their wedding day felt like one unforgettable adventure.
If you're dreaming of an intimate wedding surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, alpine scenery, and unforgettable views, Glacier National Park offers endless possibilities. We'd love to help capture your story and create a wedding film that allows you to relive every moment for years to come.
